Leaders Wanted!

Develop your leadership skills

There are many roles for adults in Scouts Australia. You may become a Leader of a Cub, Scout or Venturer Unit, which involves varying degrees of program planning and weekly meetings.

You may have a certain interest in adventurous activities such as abseiling or water activities and become an Activity Leader.

As you progress through Scouting, you can also become involved in training and leading adults.

Cub, Scout & Venturer Leaders are volunteers from the community, often the parents of Cub, Scout & Venturer-age youth members, who have an interest in developing young people's potential. Leaders are given training and support by other Leaders from Scouts Australia, and are given resources of program ideas. There is training in all aspects of youth leadership, program planning, safety and other requirements.

Leaders of Cub, Scouts and Venturer Units allocate one night a week in term time for the group meeting. You may also need to attend group activities (e.g. hikes or camping trips) on a few weekends a year and attend a monthly meeting of Leaders in term time.

All potential Leaders are given full police and referee checks, and are supervised and trained fully before they are able to work with young people on their own.
