On the weekend of 1 and 2 February, our J24 was slipped at Castlecrag Marina for antifouling and the name change - from 'Sailmates' to 'Herbi'. Special thanks to all who participated in the working bee and brave the hot humid conditions. Another successful Christmas Tree sale!
A BIG Thank You to all our volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this annual fundraising event a huge success! Also, a BIG Thank You to everyone who supported Northbridge Sea Scouts by purchasing a Christmas Tree from us. We look forward to seeing you again next year! We asked people who purchased a tree from us to send us photos of their trees. Here is a collection of their awesome trees! This year we had another successful ski trip. Everyone throughly enjoyed themselves and there were no injuries. Everyone returned home safely on Friday night. The only injury was our loyal trailer! Just after passing the Campbelltown exit, Mark who was driving the bus noticed there was something amiss with the trailer and pulled over to investigate. The driver's side wheel of the trailer was about to come off the axle! After a quick deliberation, it was decided to unhitch the trailer, lock it up (to keep the contents secure) and get everyone back to the Hall safely by midnight. We alerted Campbelltown police about our trailer. Arrangements were made for the trailer to be delivered to the Hall aboard a flat bed tow truck on Saturday. Everyone picked up their luggage on the Sunday. On 24 July, the trailer was loaded onto a car trailer to be taken to hospital (mechanic) to get a new axle. At the same time the trailer will also be fitted with gas bottle holders and various holes repaired. The trailer will be out of action for 3 weeks. Thank you for Mark and Stephen for taking good care of our trusty, hardworking trailer. We look forward to its return! Cubs made the most of a midweek visit to Vivid to miss the crowds. Cubs enjoyed interacting with the different light shows & the travel on the bus & train was as much fun as the lights. Alison Hawkins-Bond We had an adventure packed fun at the Cataract Dam Scout Camp, with actives such as archery, a muddy obstacle course, waterslide and a scenic walk to Cataract Dam. The weather was awesome, raining briefly on the second night. While Riku and Roland were out sailboarding on Saturday morning (19 November) I spotted 2 large fins 200m away. As a precautionary measure we got the cubs and their boards back to the boat shed. The Cubs with their mothers Cate and Kyoko piled into the scout runabout and went out to investigate the fins. Out from Clive Park we came across a pod of 6 large dolphins. Keith Clarke A BIG thank you to Keith Clarke for putting his carpentry skills to good use (again) to install a new awning made from the starboard half of a decommissioned sailing dingy. The front door has also been repainted to match the new awning. Also thank you to Lisa Allshire for putting her sign writing skills to good use. Lisa is not only an artist but she was a professional sign writer. The new awning and signage was completed in good time before our Annual Christmas Tree Sale! It really does give the face of the Hall a lot more character. David Herridge |
